We were on a walk in town with neighbors in late Sept and there were chestnuts laying all over the road at one intersection. My neighbor said they are great at repelling spiders (they evidently don't like the smell) so I gathered a bunch, brought them home and spread them around inside the house. I haven't seen any spiders inside the house in a long time, and have no idea if they work, but I'll do just about anything to keep them out of here.
