The root of this issue (and it applies to all of us) is about conditioning. If as children we constantly had others in our face, our natural response would be to recoil in reaction to the intrusion. If this happens often enough, it becomes engrained as a behavioral pattern and as we witness this kind of intrusion/recoil pattern in our immediate group in our daily lives, we begin to assume this is natural behavior. Heck, we might even begin to believe that if we aren't recoiling or making others recoil, there's something wrong--after all, in our youth, we were conditioned to believe this was the way things should be.

If you were raised to be a hammer, you treat other folks as nails.

We've all got our own shtuff to work on -- let's be gentle with one another.
