I was in Las Vegas a few weeks ago for the Consumer Electronics show, and stopped by the Las Vegas Country Star at around 6:00PM.
First I peaked in the window, and thought the place was closed. I could not see any customers. I walked in, looked around, and the only customers I saw were a couple in the bar. About 10 to 15 employees were walking around, preparing the buffet, cleaning, looking busy, but there were no customers. I hung around for about 15 minutes, to see what would happen. The only thing that happened was that the couple in the bar left.
I talked to one of the employees, and she said it was unusual to have no customers, and she seemed sincere. The place was nicely appointed, and country videos were playing on screens throughout the place. But, to have no customers at 6:00pm when there is a big show in town makes me wonder. It was a cold, rainy night, so that probably had some effect on the lack of customers, but the Harley Davidson cafe right across the strip had some people in it.
It could be that the country format is just not that popular anymore, because it looks like CAFE has done everything else right. |
