Have been feeding our dogs Costco dog food for probably 15 years plus playing around with Kirkland Signature and Nature’s Domain varieties. We believe in changing it around once in a while BUT every dog has his preferences and some don’t agree with every digestive system.

Our current Shepherd seems to do best with Signature chicken and rice

For the occasional treat, Kirkland (large) chicken and rice dog biscuits and Rollover 2kg sausages in small portions.

We also make our own dog food as a once a day (small) additive to kibbles. This varies from liver, kidney, ground beef pork, fish plus always some carrots or sweet potato. Really depends on what is on sale / what we have in the fridge or freezer.

Raw beef knee bones are great teeth cleaners but not every dog’s digestive system can handle them.

Tried the “gold plated” brand name dog foods from time to time. The only difference we saw was in our bank account.

All our large dogs lived to a ripe old age and none were overweight in spite of free feeding. Mind you, our dogs do get lots of exercise.

PS: I forgot one other thing we do daily. 1 400mg capsule of Glucosamine Chondroitin daily. Open capsule and mix in with homemade dog food. Buy when Costco has them on sale. None of our (large) dogs ever developed the typical joint or hip issues.
