These NG fuel cells can use direct NG pipes and/or propane. They even make a much smaller model for use in boat/RV that helps w/ battery re-charge used w/ solar. That unit hooks into a 5gal propane bottel. That is a WATT unit.

The residential WATT unit is larger (due to the venting) and can be configured w/ propane and/or direct NG delivered to the house.

The one I am looking at is the REDEX unit. This is almost 3x more effiicient than the Bloom Box and smaller. It's perfect for a decentralized grid application in an urban area (ie PG&E).

It is interesting that WEC is the utility that is heading the install into residential NG fuel cell usage. Note; these are not NGT generators. The fuel cells run quiet and produce water and some heat and are always on. The REDOX box is designed to run at 12KW efficiency and extra power is sold back into the grid. This is always on may/could power 2-3 1300sqft homes hooked into the grid.
