If EU distribution is as bad as you say, would it be a
good move for Borland to form their own distribution group
for Europe? Similar to their new venture in the US, but
less dependent on Internet sales.

You've got it backwards. Borland HAS a subsidiary in Germany
already (Borland GmbH), and the pricing policy which they
originally pursued was the source of my complaint. In addition,
some third-party originally had (still has?) exclusive
distribution rights in Switzerland. I resented being FORCED
by Borland to buy through them instead of being able to order
from a software warehouse in the U.S. like U.S. customers.

When I don't have a choice of a vendor, I start looking for
a choice of a product.
