| | | You know my stance. Its your mouth and money. For me, I had wisdom teeth out when I was 18. I lost 1 molar in 2009 bit down on an olive pit and cracked it pretty bad, the dentist tried to sell me a implant, told me horror stories if I didn't replace it. Nothing happened. Lost another molar on the opposite side 2.5 years ago, they didn't push any extra work on me. Lost 2 canines due to resorption. A periodontist on SI told me if I want them replaced to get a bridge, I priced it out an it was 5000-12000 dollars. He told me due to my age 56, just to leave them, and thats what I plan on doing. I don't give a rats ass if people see the missing teeth. I am not a candidate for implants as I have a high possibility that my body would reject the implant, I have a autoimmune disease.
I have friend, she had an implant around 18 years ago and something went wrong, they had to remove it and now she suffers from chronic pain, and will for the rest of her life. She warned me to never get an implant.
Its your money and your health, as long as your gums are healthy, and you can still bite properly, a couple missing molars or premolars won't do anything. You have to make up your own mind on what to do. Mine was made up and it am very comfortable with my decision. |
