Dow Jones Newswires -- January 23, 1998 Newbridge Seen Announcing Agreements With 3Com Monday By Scott Adams TORONTO (Dow Jones)--Industry analysts expect Newbridge Networks Corp. (NN) to announce that it is transferring some of its UB Networks assets to 3Com Corp. (COMS) and that 3Com will begin marketing some of Newbridge's asynchronous transfer mode products. "We were expecting it by the end of the month and it looks like it is going to happen on Monday," said Rob MacLellan, analyst with SBC Warburg Dillon Read. "This is pretty well expected. They just nailed down the date." MacLellan discounted any rumors that the announcement Monday would involve a merger or that Newbridge might disclose a disappointing earnings outlook. Newbridge announced earlier Friday afternoon that it will hold a teleconference on Monday to provide details of a strategic announcement. It didn't elaborate.
