What does the Secret Service think of Donald Trump?

I have a good friend I was a Cop with who moved over to Secret Service after we were on 4 or 5 years.
He is a hard core Republican. As Right Wing as they come. He was on personal Protection for the Bush W family (one of the daughters in college and at the Texas ranch). Knew W personally. For reference I’m a middle of the road Independent who has voted almost equally for both Parties. Conservative in Foreign Politics, Military, Law and Order as well as fiscal responsibility. Progressive in domestic affairs like legalization of Marijuana, Gay rights, immigration reform etc.
He (my buddy in the Secret Service) personally knows and interacts with many members of Trumps protection detail. Bottom line…and I quote “ Trump is a window licking clusterfuck of a moron".
They as a group had no problem with him the first 6 to 9 months…most voted for him. By a year in of hearing him speak and watching his behavior and daily routine? The word most often used to describe Trump by those that work near him is “moron" (Rex Tillerson Trumps 1st Secretary of State called Trump “A fucking moron" a quote overheard by many and well documented). Tillerson reportedly called Trump a 'moron.' Months later, he's out
You can only imagine how bad the train wreck of idiocies that would cause a Deeply Right Wing liberal hating Government law Officer to come to the conclusion that a Republican President is such a moron that they're either voting Democrat or if they can't do that without vomiting will stay home and not vote.
My guy won't tell any specific stories because they never do that except with each other. Old buddy over beers definitely not. He would say that if he did tell me any one of a hundred stories I would “shit myself in sheer terror".
Final answer. They think he is a moron….just like anyone else paying attention and not treating politics like they do football (my tribe forever…anything to the contrary ignored…any one speaking against the tribe is fake, liar and plotting no matter how blatant the evidence or how much they would have freaked if the other tribe had ever come close to doing the same thing). Both Parties are quite capable of tribalism, extreme hypocrisy and automatic rejection of any new information that contradicts their belief and or agenda. However, Republicans have taken this to a whole new level by essentially rejecting every single tenet and pillar of Conservationism by electing someone who was a Democrat from age 18 when he registered to vote until 2006 when he realized he could only run as a Republican as a publicity stunt to get his Reality Show picked up for another season and burnish the Trump brand. A failed businessman running as a CEO who can be successful in the White house in a way he wasn’t able to be when he lost billions of dollars and no US bank would touch him his credit was so bad (enter Russian money).
Nobody was more surprised than Trump when he was elected. So surprised he had no transition team or any idea where to start when he got the news election eve. Trump is the living antithesis of Conservatism who was elected as a protest vote against “That Black Guy” (I’m putting that nicely…as a Cop people assume I’m a racist and say incredible racist things all the time….and the biggest I heard from 2008 to 2016 was some variation of “I hate that Nigger in the White House”. )(Yea I typed out the whole word instead of saying “The N Word”. I think people need to hear and see the ugliness instead of a safe PC abbreviation). When I hear racists talk they’re not saying “the N word”. Trump was a hand grenade tossed into Washington DC by very angry people who were fed up with all the BS in Washington. Another thing I hear all the time is “Yea Trump’s behavior is disgusting but he’s pissing off the Libtards and lowering taxes so he literally can’t do enough crazy for me as long as the Libs are crying and his policies match my politics”. Which is saying there is no limit to how disgusting I will be and to what I will accept as long as I get my way. The ultimate anti-conservative way of thinking. When the Trumpers trust you and really open up…they are the first to admit how awful his behavior is (except the real nutters who fully chugged the Kool Aid and even they wish he would delete his Twitter account.) He’s a disgusting mad man…but he’s OUR disgusting mad man carrying out our wishes and pisssing off the Libs so he can never go too far. Too far is the whole point. Suck it Libs…LOL!
Ask anyone who has done business with Trump or known him for years in NYC. He's a glorified carnival barker and pitch man who lies as easily as breathing and brags about himself in nearly every sentence.
I truly believe that in the near future, it will be as hard to find an admitted Trumper as it is to find one of those White people to admit they attacked black kids trying to desegregate schools in Alabama. The vast majority of those white supremacist kids being restrained by the National Guard in front of school are still alive. When was the last time you heard someone admit to being a white supremacist in the 60s and 70s? It will be the same with Trumpers. Once all the books are written and the whole ugly history known it will be increasingly difficult to find someone who admits to taking part in this orgy of hate and ignorance. People just like the hate mongers and racists of old will be properly shamed and never admit in public they were Trumpers. History repeats. We have seen the racists and haters empowered and encouraged before. It's usually a brief orgy of ignorance that Americans quickly put a lid on and hide from view as soon as the tipping point of ugly is reached.
The same way you’re screwed if someone digs up a 20 year old pic of you in Black Face at a party …in the future so too will you be social pariah if you’re outed as a Trumper. It’s even disgusting now but there are enough of them that they’re having a moment. That moment is going to end and we will all look back at this for decades and try to sort out how this happened to America. I am a Conservative but not a Republican. I have voted both ways about equally and I can’t believe what a steaming pile of wreckage the GOP has become. Remember “Conservatives”. Anti Russia and Anti Communist? Anti Porn Star wife cheating and lying? “Family Values voters”? The “moral majority” outraged against outlandish uncouth braggarts, liars and outrageous behavior. Balanced budget, national deficit? Anyone remember any of that bedrock of the GOP? Party of Law and Order. Who now attack the FBI, all 17 Intelligence agencies and all newspapers of note as un-American, fake news, deep state conspiracies. Pro Military who would never call a POW a coward and not a hero because “they got captured”. Remember all the POW/MIA worship? Now gold star families are attacked by the President who never served because he had a Podiatrist that lived in his Dads building concoct a fake illness to dodge the draft.
Pick any random day and Trump commits at least 10 outrageous acts/scandals that in any other time in history would cause the entire Conservative community to be disgusted to the point of voting out their own (Nixon, McCarthy etc). Common Sense. Fiscal responsibility and dignified conservative stewardship and behavior? Seen any of those talking points lately from the GOP since Obama? The GOP destroyed their brand in 2016. Period. The Republican Party has rejected and ignored every basic tenet and principal they were about as a Party.
A vast majority of GOP Congressmen and Senators would love to eject Trump but don’t possess the moral courage to confront the name calling and juvenile Twitter attacks that would follow any vote of conscience. They’re paralyzed in fear of Trumps “base” and his vicious character attacks and name calling (Trumps calling card…”little Marco” “Crazy Bernie” Pocahontas”, “low energy Jeb”, “Al Frankenstein”, “Fat Jerry”, “Dumb Beto”, “Low IQ Maxine Waters” “Dumb Southerner” for Jeff Sessions) which alone would have been enough for real Conservatives (or any American Voter for that matter) to reject him at face value.
Today there is no bottom. No limit or line that Trump could cross that would make him go too far for his base. No scandal that can’t be excused as no big deal or just fake news. Suddenly all these terrible character traits are not only acceptable but desirable. Not a Hillary fan but she nailed his supporters’ acceptance and participation in such terrible behavior and low standards by labeling them “deplorable”.
Deplorable is the perfect word to describe Trump’s behavior and the acceptance and approval of said behavior by all who continue to support him after 3 years of daily scandal. No American can even list all of his scandals from just this year alone. So many huge things go right by because they’re replaced in the headlines by a bigger scandal the next day. You forget Trump actually put his hands on the head of another State at a photo op and shoved him out of the way like a child on the play ground. He literally physically assaulted a head of State on camera. Huge deal…until the next day when his Nazi followers held a torch light parade chanting “Jews will not replace us” to which Trump said there were good people on both sides of the Nazi vs Anti Nazi protests. Yesterday’s outrage replaced with today’s vile affront to decency.
Interestingly, the desire and demand (applications to be on personal protection for POTUS) hasn't dropped off one bit. Secret Service Agents couldn’t care less whom they work for. It is a highly prized and prestigious posting for them. The pinnacle of a career the vast majority will ever reach. Even the best can't hang on that detail more than 4 to 6 years if that long before being reposted. This answer strictly addresses their personal opinions of the man. They do the job well regardless of whom sits in the big chair. The biggest Trump hating agent will be first in line to work that detail. They don't let personal feelings of disgust interfere with their professionalism.
*I should have added that I also have it on good authority that Hillary Clinton was a Cruella deVille wanna be, hell on wheels mega bitch who treated the Agents like the help. Bill was exactly what you would think. Chill…treated them like bros. George W. I heard was just a Prince in his treatment of Agents. I especially heard that at the Texas Ranch in particular he ALWAYS made sure his detail got the good food and sent out beers to the off duty guys. Treated them like family. I promise you they have the goods on every person’s personal weird shit who they ever were detailed to. They hear damn near every thing you say and see everything you do 300 days a year. They’re too classy to tell specifics or give any but the most general details like “yea he’s a dick” or “Damn if he didn’t always send out the best food when nobody else even would care to think if we were hungry”. Doesn't matter how big a dirt bag you are. They will take a bullet for you on instinct alone if you’re under their protection. Believe that. |
