I too buy Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars for several ethical reasons:
1) The workers who make the shoes in the U.S. are treated and paid well (at least in comparison to workers for Nike or Reebok)
2) The shoes are canvas instead of leather--no animals are killed
3) The shoes are cheap; this fights elitist and classist attitudes.
It also means people won't be ripped off.

In addition to these ethical reasons they're comfortable, cheap, and cool looking. Although I support Converse shoes, I don't think its a good investment. Not too many people think like I do.
