Time for a little Natural Gas Contrarian Analysis? I think so.

Hard not to notice more than the usual volume of bearish financial news & opinion pieces AWA SI posts, in recent weeks.

Since 1973? Lost count of how many cycles I've watched bottom right after such surges in bearish sentiment. Each time, very confident amateur investors and more than a few important industry insiders capitulate just before what later proves - at least - an important Intermediate Term Bottom followed by a multi-week, even multi-month rally.

Only time for one other sentiment evidentiary data set. COTs. There are exceptions. But studies for many decades indicate that Commercials position heavily long before major rallies. Traders (aka Specs) are heavily short and are forced out with large losses during the ensuring rally. Well, looky here...))

Commercials haven't been this heavily long or Specs so short since early 2016 shortly before a powerful rally took NG higher for the rest of 2016!!

Not stuck my toe in the gasser equity water for many months. At age 75, with other irons in the fire, may miss my entry entirely. OTOH? Have to confess, the trigger finger is getter more and more itchy.
