In the short term, say 5 years.. NEVER WILL HAPPEN!!!!

People who spout this diskless workstation crap, really get me mad!!

Lets say you give everyone a T1 line in their house NO EXTRA charge.. same as POTS line. Well this T1 line is about as fast as a single speed cd-rom.. NOT FOR ME!!! Lets see SCSI Hard Drive 4 megabytes per second, T-1 1.5 Megabits per second (.150 Megabytes)

Ok, give them a BRAND NEW ADSL line, say 6 MB, this is still only quad speed equivalent, and the technology is at least five years away from being available in large parts of the country. I have an ISDN line and it is still way too SLOW!!!

Oh you say cable, well lets see thats 30 megabits or about the speed of a harddrive.. Great!! you say.. what's that?? it's based off ethernet technology (shared between you and all your neighbors) and your available bandwidth MIGHT be equivalent to an ISDN line.

I hope you do not take this personally. It was not meant that way. It is directed toward people who spout this crap.. ITS BULL!!! Not going to happen in the foreseeable future.

Oh ya one last thing, all the above examples assume no other bottlenecks... Seems likely...
