Seeking help from foreigners is not illegal. I'm not sure where you got that idea. The US routinely seeks help to find, indict, and prosecute criminals. We have deep ties across many agencies with both NATO and non-NATO countries, to both police and bring justice to criminals. The President often does get involved in asking for high level help, but then quickly delegates to the correct agency. So this is not only not illegal, it is fairly routine. The only abnormality here is the Biden is a candidate, which is why Trump should have asked the DOJ to look into instead of him opening himself up to attack. So what makes most sense is the Censure Trump for his lack of following protocol. But impeachment and ignoring Biden's very real crimes? Those are extreme actions and not following the norms of our institutions and the spirit of the Constitution.

I think Trump's problem is that he is his own worst enemy. He is used to running his business as the head of everything. But in government, a President needs to ask his advisors if a proposed action or statement or conversation could get him in trouble. Especially, Trump, since we know everyone is looking for the slightest misstep, he should be more careful. But he's not used to living in a "gotcha" world. I also think it is unfortunate that we don't give our President the wide latitude necessary to do his job properly. Who in hell can operate successfully when everyone is out to get you? It's hard as hell. Everyone messes up eventually.
