That is why the public never got behind impeaching and removing Clinton. Male or female, most people understood his perjury. Even at his highest level, the public support for impeaching Clinton never reached the level of support for impeach Dubya. Or Obama. It was always between 20 and 30 percent.

With Trump it is totally different. The support for impeaching and removing Trump is much higher. Often a plurality and even a small majority. Trump defenders keep insisting that Trump committed no crimes. Mueller didn't seem to believe it. And Trump's actions in the Ukraine have only cemented that. Not to mention Trump's propensity to push and often cross legal limits. If the Senate doesn't convict Trump, he is going to push those limits even harder. If they vote to exonerate him(can they do that?) Trump will be even bolder.
