Lindsey Graham is in real trouble
Bill Palmer | 4:30 pm EST December 14, 2019 Palmer Report » Analysis

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham has spent the past year making a fool of himself by dishonestly defending Donald Trump. Even as questions swirl as to why Graham has decided to throw his reputation away so he could bow down at the altar of Trump, Graham’s pro-Trump antics are becoming even more deranged as the impeachment process moves forward. Now it turns out Graham is in real trouble.

Lindsey Graham is running for 2020 Senate reelection in South Carolina, normally a solidly Republican state. But new polling suggests that Graham is actually facing a tough reelection race. It’s just one poll, but it has Graham just two points ahead of upstart Democratic challenger Jaime Harrison. The closeness of the race is likely due to a combination of Harrison’s inspiring campaign, the ongoing nationwide Blue Wave, and growing discontent over Graham’s antics.

Jaime Harrison tweeted this in response to the poll: “Running against Senator Graham is a tough climb, but it’s also a hill worth climbing. I’ve faced things folks have deemed impossible my entire life, and this is yet another journey where I prove that in America, the impossible is always possible.”

Lindsey Graham appears intent on continuing to set himself on fire as Donald Trump’s impeachment trial reaches the Senate. If Graham continues down this path, it should continue opening the door for Jaime Harrison to take a real swing at defeating Graham in 2020. You can follow Harrison’s campaign here.
