The one time he called me in response to an inquiry I e-mailed him, it was 6:30 a.m. in California which is where my caller I.D. Deluxe said he called from:))
Let me tell you friends, this guy was "cooking". He sounded like he'd been up for hours in the sense that after introducing himself he went directly into reminding me that I had written with questions, he was calling to answer them and exactly what would I like to know.
Meanwhile I'm fumbling through the pile of papers on my desk trying to find the questions I'd written down to ask when he called, stalling for time by complimenting him on taking the time to call me personally, especially so "early, it must be 6:30 in the morning there" :))
I'm a salesman, and a damn good one. I know how to read people, in person and over the phone. I've even sold wigs over phone. Don't laugh, it's true.
I never heard anyone sound that sharp that early in the morning.
I know, I know, I'm long, you guys are short, and how Art Chait sounds at 6:30 a.m. doesn't change anything.
But when you've waited as long as I have, lost as much as I have, and still hope as much as I do, it's nice to know the guy you're counting on to turn the dream into reality isn't strolling into the office at 9:30 am.
