I once had to do a speech on Richard Nixon for a public speaking class in college - so I did a lot of research.

What I am going to say didn't make me popular when I made the speech, and it won't be popular here either.

I know that it is accepted that Richard Nixon "ordered" the Watergate break-ins. That is not true. He did not order them.

His self-admitted big mistake was in not immediately firing the men who did the break-in, and then trying to cover it up.

He also said that he regretted that mistake - that he made it because he felt loyal to his "men."
