Burford capital is a pretty murky business, imo, both from a governance as well as from a profit perspective. They have one large win (Petersen case against Argentine) and many smaller losses, so it’s very hard estimate the average profitability of the business. They also do a lot of non cash valuation of on going cases so earnings are not equal to cash flows. Too hard for me and I decided to stay away.
