I never thought I would read something like that.

Chinese criminal gangs spreading African swine fever to force farmers to sell pigs cheaply so they can profit

Report by state media says some offenders are leaving infected feed in sties and are even using drones to spread contamination

Pork prices have spiked as a result of the disease and gangs can profit by getting around controls to smuggle meat across provincial boundaries.

I am helping a Chinese friend of mine (ex-Huawei) set up a safe food business in China.

He said there is a market for the safe fruits, vegetables and meat and the Chinese fear the food supply chain.

So far, only the well heeled could afford safe food. He wants to bring it to the middle classes.

Back in 2014, end of the year, I did a short stint in Saudi Arabia. I flew once a month out via Qatar.
The Duty Free shops in the International Airport of Qatar were filled with walls of baby milk formula as there were cases of this product being contaminated in China and parents were panicking.

The Chinese used to cross the border to HK and scoop all baby milk formula from the shelves. Those Chinese who traveled abroad, would load up in foreign airports
to take home.
