I've always liked the idea of passenger trains. We had a small line to Cape May here in south Jersey from Philly many years ago of which nothing is left but a bump you drive over on some of its old crossroads.

I think the best idea for the US for high-speed lines would be between two close cities in fairly flat areas like they were talking about for Houston and Dallas, or Orlando/Miami. If they were successful, more projects would spring up. But we're many, many years from ever seeing it as part of our travel culture again.
