>>>I've been wading through a ton of these posts the past couple of days. In my opinion the modus operendi of these professional shorters such as what's his name and others is obvious. In much the same way as the Bearons article trashed this company.(n.b. I am not against shorting per se)<<<
Everybody's got their own agenda on these threads. Everybody talks their position. The value of these threads is to be able to hear both sides, and gain a solid understanding of the company. If you want to see someone short talking a short position you might take a gander at my posts on the Solv Ex thread in June 97. I posted what I believed on that thread, no different than here. The underlying problem is the us vs them attitude. The market doesn't care whether you're long or short. I guess I must be one of the people you speak of above because I talked my position there. Scam Ex was such a transparent fraud though. Sheesh, not a penny of revenue in 18+ years.
Bearon's story was different than an opinion thread, IMO. If FIBR was good enough for the front page, then SOLV should have had at least 2 cover stories. And you didn't have a chance to interact with the author's the way you do here.
Short sellers can't destroy a company with FUD. They may drive the price down but they can't keep it down, because if they do, some sharpie with money will grab the shares. So they might have some short term effect but in the long run the company lives or dies because of the underlying business, not the ebb and flow of supply and demand.
You have a lot of people that didn't have a clue why they bought buying recently, and they'll eventually get depressed and sell. I hope I'm wrong, and if I see the buying come back I'll buy back. But until then I'll be happy scalping 1/8 and 1/4s off the fluctuations. Right now I see too much risk to hold a position overnight either way. But my perspective is much shorter term than a lot of folks, and everyone has to sleep with their positions. Lately I really seem to feel better sleeping with cash.
BTW, next support level is 4 1/2. Resistance all the way up to 6 9/16, IMO. If it holds 4 1/2 it will be a positive.
Just my thoughts,
