Appreciate your inputs. You obviously know more about this field than I do. I will take a look at SYBS and IFMX also.

In light of your observations, two questions:

1. Is there a reason for REDB to exist? Do they have any redeeming features at all? Are there significant data warehousing applications where REDB has unique strengths?

2. Why is HP, which already has relationships with ORCL, for example, interested in REDB?

One thing that bothers me with REDB is that from Q4/96 to Q4/97, even though their total revenues grew about 18%, their software revenues stayed flat at around $10M. The growth came from maintenance and consulting parts of the business. If not a red flag, this is at least an orange flag that bears watching in Q1/98.

I would be most appreciative of any insights you can share.

Thanks.
