Larry, <<(3) Disk Drive is a commodity>>
I still have a differing view. Lets use your explanation: <<Try to sell any of the above 10% higher then everyone else and you go out of business !>>
But there are many performance and capacity points within the product sector of disk drives (and therefore many price levels). This, in fact, is one of the exact reasons it isnt a commodity IMHO. Just for fun I went to Websters. It says:
(1) An article of trade or commerce as distinguished from a service (2) something of use, advantage, or value (3) any unprocessed or partially processed goods such as grain, fruits, or metals.
Now let me ask you, it seems that #1 would indicate that anything is a manufactured, assembled, sold, is a commodity. Ditto #2. So, I have a proposition for you. If you agree that a Cray Research Computer is a commodity then I will agree that a disk drive is also. Otherwise I will stick to my original sense of the matter. Does that make sense? Anyway, seldom right but never in doubt. Hehehe
