I’ll do my best to post a 2019 closing update on New Year’s Eve with additional 2019 summary data as soon as I can get to it. It’s very likely HOOD’s portfolio will take the 2019 Contest Crown. So for those who want to take a 2019 tax deduction for their donation, HOOD’s charity is the “Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.” fredhutch.org

For those who’d like to donate to my charity, this year my choice is “LifeLong Medical Care.”

At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 45.99% YTD (vs. up 44.08% a week ago), handily outperforming the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI), up 25.37% YTD (vs. up 25.87% a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI), up 33.38% YTD (vs. up 34.05% a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) surmounted the 9000 mark and is now up 35.74% YTD (vs. up 34.51% YTD a week ago).
Our leader, HOOD’s portfolio, put a few more points on the Contest scoreboard and is now up a phenomenal 217.46% YTD. Second place KMASTR’s portfolio, up 175.53% YTD, and third place OHMS’ portfolio, up 143.77% YTD, have had terrific years as well.
At Friday's close, 33 of the 39 Contest portfolios were still in the green, while 29 were still beating the NBI and 28 were now beating the SPSIBI. With only two more trading days left in 2019, 8 of the 39 portfolios have doubled YTD!
The 167 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 46.45% and a median YTD gain of 11.49%.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: None.
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits & mergers, greatly appreciated.)
Best to all for a joyful New Year!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
