I would say "working on it" in the loosest meaning of the word. For a couple of years I was working with a documentary crew on a multi-part cable special. Typically with these things the local police department jump at the chance to collaborate and get huge publicity for solving a cold case. Not here. Actually, to be clear, this case is under the auspices of the States Attorney's office, not the New Haven police. That was all because of me and my Freedom of Information Act request in 2004 which I technically won. By seizing the case file, the SA's office felt it could then argue it was protected, given the SA's office is immune from such laws whereas local PDs are not. I could write volumes on this, sadly. Bottom line, IMO, is that local law enforcement heads would roll and careers would be ruined if this were solved... so you do the math.
