Good questions.

The answer is that I was prepared since middle school (by various Berkeley/Oakland movements) for today's cultish extremist swing, and I knew early on that all demographics and biases were hackable -- and subject to cult behavior.

I have listened to Limbaugh and Savage and then FoxNews POUNDING-IN their RW bullshit for at least 20 years, and I saw this coming. I watched the LW extremist bullshit too for probably 60 years; but no comparison to the RW in effectiveness and funding.

When I visited the the killing fields and torture high school in Cambodia 15 years ago it really affected me about what can happen to a society of generally nice Buddhist people. Ir can happen to ANYONE ANYWHERE.

Obama was trapped by McConnell and the enabling REALITY of blue-dog democrats and he did his best with the brilliant and most diverse staffs in history. We must consider what would have happened if Republicans won the White House in 2008 and 2012. It could and would be worse.
