That happened to me about 20 years ago. i tried to push the bird toward the garage entrance with a garden rake but it wouldn't be herded. Kept flying into the white ceiling. Tried several combinations of closing the main door and the back entrance door. Didn't work.

After three or four hours, I hung up the rake, closed all the garage doors and went for a two-hour walk.

When I returned, the hummingbird was resting on one of the rake tines. I carefully picked up the rake and carried it outside. The hummingbird immediately flew to a nearby crepe myrtle bush, which was in full bloom.
