The point was that the students are taught the government provides everything.

The money isn't wasted on teachers aids it is more heinous than that.
This is where the government really does the taxpayers a disservice.
1. English as a second language. The budget that school waste on this crap is enormous.

2. Large buildings and physical plant (It is probably more economic in the long run to lease space)

3. Busing for homeless kids. They bus kids in small cars, SUV's, and minivans, to "guarantee" homeless kids stay in the same school or better schools if their family moves. Well if you move to a new school district with a poorly performing school, guess what your kid now goes to that school you don't get a "special right" to stay in the school district where you came from.

4. School busing in general. What a waste. No one in my family from Grandfather to my kids have ever ridden a school bus. We either walked or a parent took them to school. Now I know you may "feel" different but this is about economics. If parents knew they would be responsible for taking a kid to school then this might have an impact on a certain segment of society that looks at the public school system as free day care 8 hrs a day. Also, what most parents don't realize is most young kids are first exposed to porn on the school bus. The school bus ride is truly the devils workshop of unsupervised time for children. Ask your self why does that 8 year old need the Iphone?

5. Free lunches. I have to pay or provide a lunch for my kid, why is their kid any different? Kids have consequences.

6. School administration- The amount administrative "fat" in the public school system is outrageous. Most people fail to ask questions like what is the Student/staff ratio for my school system (not individual school you have include the clowns in the central office and offsite) and instead always fall victim to the Liberal/Progressive talking point of what is the Student/Teacher ratio. People generally don't look at the amount spent per student factor as well. So if it costs $10,000 per child for public education but a private school can do it for $7000 per child are we really better off with public schools?

I could go on but I think I have made my point. Public education is an utter failure and the reason our country will become authoritarian if we don't do something.

If we don't drain this swamp it wont matter if we drain the swamp in congress.

I have been in public schools in Moldova and Poland where there is no heat in the middle of winter and I have been in schools in the bush in Africa where there is no A/C. They sure weren't teaching English as a second language and there was no common core. The kids weren't bused there either. There were no "school shootings" And the parents were darn well invested in their kids doing well. For the most part I saw functioning systems that produced better results.
