That is the best description of our disastrous "public education" system that I have ever read.

Speaking for the schools in San Jose, I would add that enormous amounts of money are spent on specialists to analyze and diagnose and work with kids that may or may not need special assistance - many who barely speak English.

I'm sure that sounds confusing, but I know this for a fact because I have a family member that is on that gravy train. (Which is fine with me. The smartest among us get on the "government" gravy train.)

Her salary, time off, and perks are what most "private" employees only dream about.
