When you burn down/ destroy forests and replace them with monocrop banana or palms for palm oil for example.. you are not getting anywhere near the same bang for buck .. just like replacing a temperate forest with houses and suburban gardens, lawns, parks (mostly grass and weeds dying back each year) and golf courses.. Those things are two dimensional in essence.. compare to a forest.. ground cover.. understory plants, epiphytes, and canopy.. you have a 3D carbon sucking block.. large amount of PERMANENT plant infrastructure.. what we plant does not even come close.. and plowing under each season releases the carbon back no ?

Sure gardening is great.. my passion actually and I have 8500sqft food garden.. but it is no forest...

not even venturing down the destruction of bio diversity..

Heirloom plant guy whenever possible..
