The claim is ridiculous. That's why I'm unclear on what Lane's suggesting.

We cannot even show that CO2 has a role here, and yet we have numerous approaches to reducing CO2 in the atmosphere.

And to date, there is scant evidence to suggest CO2 has a harmful effect.

We should be easily able to plant to sufficient trees to sequester sufficient carbon until newer technologies supplant high-emission technologies from years gone by. Even if it were a problem, which it isn't.

To be clear, over time, climate changes, and people cause a small portion of it -- and sea level has been increasing for centuries. There is no indication as to whether that is likely to change anytime soon.
