Globe says Canopy, rivals hear Ont. edible debut a bust
The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday edition that weed edibles debuted on Monday in Ontario. A Canadian Press dispatch to The Globe reports that most licensed retailers, however, had yet to receive their first shipments of 59 products including soft chews, cookies and chocolates that were slated to start appearing in stores that day. The Ontario Cannabis Store said products are on their way and likely already in some shoppers' hands. Spokesman Daffyd Roderick said, without identifying stores, some shops outside the Greater Toronto Area received shipments of edibles Monday. The OCS had previously warned that the supply of edibles could be tight and sell out quickly. It vowed to rapidly replenish supplies and roll out more products in the coming months as they receive regulatory approvals. Mr. Roderick said in an e-mail: "Due to varying delivery schedules, stores will receive shipments on different dates. For example, some stores receive shipments on Mondays, others Wednesdays, etc. This is not due to a delay, but rather the normal delivery schedule, which stores selected." He said more products will be available in the coming months. Edibles will be available on-line in the province starting Jan. 16. © 2020 Canjex Publishing Ltd. |
