Tenchu's Thoughts: If I Were Trump For A Day - An Anti-War Conservative's Perspective
Let me start with a disclaimer. I was once a big supporter in the War on Terrorism. I used to believe in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. I thought that by democratizing Iraq and Afghanistan, you drive a stake right into the heart of Islamic extremism. And once that happens, Iran and the rest of the Middle East would follow.
Yeah, I was wrong.
With that, here is what I would write today, if I somehow took over the mind of Donald Trump for 24 hours:

My fellow Americans. As you know, last week I ordered the termination of Qassem Soleimani when the opportunity presented himself. He was a known terrorist and the mastermind of Iran's proxy wars in the Middle East, which have indeed claimed the lives of hundreds of Americans as well as millions of innocent civilians.
Some of you out there may be questioning the wisdom of this decision. Some of you think that sending hundreds of millions of dollars in cold hard cash on wooden pallets can buy peace from Iran. Some of you even now think that you can beg Iran to be non-violent for just a little while, at least until you can get me, supposedly the biggest "warmonger" on this planet, out of power.
To you idiots, I have only one word for you: WRONG!
If you really look at the big picture, Iran deserved this. They thought they could wage wars in the shadows and expand their fundamentalist views without having to pay the price. They too, were WRONG. And we reminded them of this truth, in the only language that they understand.
Besides, this is no different than what your hero Obama did when he took out Osama bin Laden. He saw the opportunity, and he took it. He even had lawyers make sure what he did was legal, and he didn't bother getting congressional approval before carrying out the strike. Of course, Al Qaeda vowed vengeance, but I didn't see any of you damned peaceniks begging them to be nice to us.
Anyway, that's not why I'm writing this. Instead, I'm going to announce something that we should have done a long time ago.
I'm going to order our troops to come back home.
That's right. I'm going to pull them out of Iraq. I'm going to pull them out of Afghanistan. I'm going to finally put an end to the wars that your hero, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Barack Obama, couldn't end.
No more nation-building. No more endless wars that lack any well-defined win conditions. I was right when I called the war in Iraq the "worst single mistake" in history, and I intend to fix it.
Americans are TIRED of war. Americans are TIRED of seeing our troops coming home in body bags for a cause that, quite frankly, isn't worth it. The Middle East will always remain a shithole, and the only thing we can do about it is support the few bright spots there, like Israel, who has and will always remain a close ally and friend of the United States of America.
Know this, however. We are not retreating from the War on Terrorism. We have already demonstrated that we can and will strike at leaders who either create terrorism or knowingly harbor terrorists. We have already demonstrated that our military is the finest, strongest in the world, and that we can take out any direct threat to America without warning.
Speaking of warnings, however, if you are one of those terrorist leaders, know that you are not safe. Not in your cave, nor behind your human shields. You WILL meet your seventy-two virgins at a time and a place of OUR choosing, and you WILL get your wish of martyrdom. Even though we are pulling out of Iraq and Afghanistan, we will never shy away from a real fight. That is my personal guarantee to you.
And finally, to all you in the fake news media who claim that I'm just doing this because of impeachment, or I'm just doing this because I want to get re-elected, you are right. I am doing this because this is what a strong president ought to do. I am doing this because this is what President Ronald Reagan, one of the greatest presidents in modern history, would have done. I am doing this because this is what John F. Kennedy would have done as well. And strong presidents tend to win re-elections. Too bad, so sad, for your current crop of wimpy, whiny socialists who think they can beat me, even in a rigged election.
I'm President Donald J. Trump, and I'm making America Great Again. May God Bless America.

I hope I captured the brashness and the ego of Trump in that mock letter. Here's hoping and praying that the anti-war Trump will actually return in real life.
