Declaring war and funding war is the purview of Congress. That's how this country is run. The Executive Branch has steadily expanded their war powers starting in the early 90s. The President needs the flexibility to act to defend Americans on a moments notice, but I think Congress should exercise its authority to reign in the endless wars we've been having. We have been in the Middle East since the early 90s and expanded our presence dramatically after 9/11. I understand and was behind the need to extract retribution for the countries sponsoring the attacks against us. But once that was done, our mission should have been complete. Instead we decided to nation build and have spend more than $10 trillion with zero return on investment. It's time to bring our boys home and end the endless wars everywhere.

China is eating our lunch on the global stage and they are doing it by focusing on their economy and trade with other countries, as we bleed ourselves to death in endless wars in the Middle East. We should only use our military for defense and punitive measures. Nothing more and certainly not to nation build in other countries. Let's do some nation building right here at home with our own economy and our own infrastructure. Let's bring our boys home.
