There was an outsider of top-shelf quality on ballot in that election - en.wikipedia.org Was he perfect? - Well no of course not, he's a human being, operating in human-being systems, you're not ever going to get Perfect there ... in every election everywhere, break it down to the basics and you find your task is to pick the least worst candidate, and in nov16 in the US that was Johnson - by virtue of being a highly rational capable outsider, lined up against two establishment parties whose insides will continue to corrupt any of their insiders who aren't already so ... this is not a nationalistic sneer at all - we have very similar situations in this country, switch around a few names of parties and individuals and it's same-same ... don't have a fix for this, but some of us are not prepared to believe that democracy can't work in large populations ... need to balance Churchill's two most famous pronouncements on democracy, and be sure to finish with 'except for all the others'
