Neither of your conclusions follow.

What follows is that shorting this stock might be a painful experience.

For example, when the internet hit, the odds were against AOL. In fact all other propietary content services/non-internet service providers are now pretty much non-entities. Shorting AOL which was way ahead of itself seemed like a reasonable proposition. But the hype kept AOL alive, and just last year they completed the transition from propietary service provider to simply content provider with the sale of their modems with the acquisition of compuserve.

Even today AOL is ahead of itself. I wouldn't short it.

Amazon is getting close to the point where I would consider shorting it, but is not there yet...
