How is the service from these guys? Did they deliver on the half- hour window for service they promise? That's one thing I hate about cable-sitting home for a half day or more waiting for the cable guy to show up during the 4-hour window they give. I also think this company is going to do very well, but it's certainly not cheap now. What I like about them is they are going ahead and laying fiber to people's front door, which has got to bury cable eventually. Sounds like the future to me. I also like the use of power company right of ways. With this, both companies win...wheras if cable companies run fiber along their right of ways, it's not as great an investment as it takes business from the cable they already put down. Forbes pointed out that cable cos. also might not be able to afford to run fiber. I bet Time Warner could find the funds but won't.... Other clecs like ICIX and ICGX have did great last year. They both have much heavier debt burdens than RCN, and rather negative book values. RCN seems to be the only one operating in the really concentrated areas, esp. NYC...I can't understand why unless it's because they thought of the power co. angle first.
