>>But what does that have to do with the impeachment at hand?

This impeachment is 100%, not 99%, over policy differences.

You can argue it is over a point of minuscule significance (the holding up of aid claimed to have been of personal benefit), but there are two fundamental issues:

a) is it within the normal scope of the president's power to put the brakes on aid pouring into a country rife with corruption? And,

b) Does the potential alleged personal benefit to the president add up to an impeachable level of significance?

This decision point (b) must be informed by the facts surrounding impeachment, starting with calls for impeachment by members of Congress starting before the man even became president. Continuing through Pelosi's awarding of gold pens in commemoration of this “somber and solemn” event, which is highly suggestive of a political attack, not a conflict based on legitimate rationale.

Not to mention the use of a focus group to determine the terminology for the fake charges against the president. Not to mention the decidedly outrageous, abusive process used in the impeachment by the House. A tragic abuse of the constitutionally stipulated process.

Of all the people on this thread who support impeachment I find your participation most disconcerting. You had me convinced for a long time that your thinking was libertarian and fair, but I really don’t see that here. This supports my belief that left leaning individuals cannot mask it, any more than I could mask my rightist predisposition. Whether on forums, as news reporters, or politicians, there is no political indifference. It is ALWAYS a controlling factor.
