Lots of questions

First the Dream Machine. I have a preliminary proposal for SuperG.
It is for a machine with open architecture with an eye towards upgrade potential and multiuse capability and a value concept. Don't want to spend $1000 for a high end chip, just want the capability to put one in when the price comes down. We intend on proposing several Dream Machines on this thread. No one as yet has made a specific proposal for a financial market applications machine. The multimonitor discussion lends itself to this topic. I also think dual monitors would be beneficial for web surfing.

What is their application? I can conceive of several financial market applications (for individual traders) that could sop up every cycle of a PII-333. Perhaps we need to discuss what dream you are trying to achieve with this machine (you've probably made that clear, and I was just not listening).

They are into hydrographic Surveying...navigation and data collection and display.
I am not familiar with financial market applications. I am sure you are right for some applications. If you want to analyze several thousand stocks in real time it would take a lot of power. I think you are talking about a very specialized application. Maybe we need to propose a configuration for a Day Trader Dream Machine.

Do you want to have a video feed into your machine?

Yes, but not necessarily in the SuperG configuration. The video concept is evolving quickly. I believe that todays video capabilities will be obsolete in 6 months.

What is the division of labor among the three computers?

One does Navigation, one for data collection and display and one for post processing . It could be arranged differently but the human division of labor is also a consideration. Nav computer is dual pentium pro 200, collection and display is p166 and post processing is PII 266 128 MB RAM. The Nav computer is overkill, data collection and display is just right and the post processing computer is nowhere big enough. For post processing I need GB Ram and TB harddrive.

Regards,

Hope you feel better soon

Anyone have an idea for the name for our Day Trader Dream Machine?
