Alexa, I think "battle-axe" is a combination of advancing age (try impending menopause), less than totally feminine desirability, and perhaps pugnacious intellectual independence. These qualities combined tend to offend some men.
I think, having read the Boinking Monica thread, that Linda Tripp falls into that category, and may even be the epitome of battle-axes, at least for today. There is speculation over there whether that THING on her face, which I frankly did not notice, is a mole, a pimple, or, um, left-over secretions from brown-nosing Kenneth Starr.
This is a woman who has clearly lost her sex appeal, if not her moxie. |
