Where I'm stuck in this ongoing difference of opinion we have is that when I try to see things from you standpoint, I either don't see that something actually was a surprise, or I don't see why anyone would see the so-called 'surprise' as something worthy of agitation.

The media is devoted to a meme that this is a chaotic presidency characterized by impulsiveness and lack of strategy. You reflect this by often asking what is Trump's strategy. You seem upset by the lack of strategy. Most of the time I'm perplexed. I thought Trump laid out his goals clearly on his website and at his rallies. Isn't this the normal order of things? 1. A goal is stated 2. A policy or a piece of legislation follows. 3. The POTUS or the requisite member of his staff explains all the reasons why and the steps that will be taken to implement it, i.e. the strategy. Or am I defining strategy differently than you would?

I think what you aren't realizing is that much of step 3 is missing when someone only reads the MSM or watches MSNBC. Even CNN will sometimes accidently make Trump's point. Where are the opinion pieces by Tom Cotton on the middle-east? Where are the opinion pieces by Navarre on trade? Trump produced a piece of legislation that reformed sentencing guidelines. There was just a tiny bit of coverage and then it was gone. There was a strategy in it which was to benefit African-Americans who had been given long sentences for drug possession. It was black leaders who brought it to the attention of Trump and he fully responded. Where was the hoop-la, something more than just a mention in passing? Where was the headline that said: President Trump reveals a clear strategy for improving the lives of African-Americans and bringing about a measure of fairness the black community has long been asking for?

Where is the headline that says: Donald Trump kicks off his strategy for changing the rules of trade with China with his Phase 1 agreement with President Xi.
