There’s something very, very odd about the latest Bolton bit.

First, the WH had a copy of the manuscript. Schiff issued subpoenas at the House inquiry level for him that were refused. He went to Court to obtain a ruling but voluntarily dismissed the suit. He let the issue fall dead at the House level. Why? IMO because he knew what the book says and wanted the NYT to publish the article at a convenient time to create a lose/lose for Trump. How? If Bolton is not allowed to testify, perception of cover up is strong. If he does testify, any acquittal is tainted. It might even move dial to conviction. GOP is damaged either way.

Second, if Trump knew what Bolton’s book said, and he did, how is it possible that he and his lawyers apparently failed to take above scenario into account? They are going to lose credibility for sure. Why didn’t they take Dershowitz’s advice to dismiss the damned thing from inception on the ground that no high crimes and misdemeanors were involved? All of this could’ve been avoided or defused significantly.

His latest tweet suggests that the military aid was not delayed, and that is simply false. So easy to disprove. GOP Senators - his jurors - became concerned about the delay and went public with their concerns. The aid was released when the whistleblower came onto the scene.

I’m really NOT impressed with Trump’s handling of the impeachment. I hope it doesn’t end badly, but I’m very concerned.

Edit: perhaps the NYT is lying about the contents of Bolton’s book, but that seems unlikely, even for the lyin’ NYT.
