Where did I not capitalize "President"? Whether it is capitalized depends very much on how you are using it, Holly. Of course, in my haste I could have made a mistake, but just saying, "the president" does not require a capital in my opinion. "President Clinton" would, though.
You are not very interested in the crisis in the White House, and I am not very interested, quite frankly, in English usage even though I majored in English, because I believe that what we communicate is much more important than precisely how we do it, and I do it just well enough that I am not fascinated by thinking and talking about it very often.
I am not sure I am much of a feminist if being one requires that I support partial-birth abortions--OR the kind of abortions where fetuses are chopped up alive and then delivered piecemeal--in healthy, viable fetuses, unless the procedure would actually save the mother's life (which is actually, according to FACT, a very rare use of the procedure in this society). I will go even further and say that much of feminism is total bunk. I know you have resolved not to discuss the issue with me, but of course I am the one writing this post, so I can still provide a url in case someone else reading this would like to follow along:

I guess I am somewhat amazed by people who discuss subjects but have no interest whatsoever in finding out what is going on. Sorry about trying to provide some facts about the crisis!!! I am not sure how one can resolutely determine that a political situation is "much ado about nothing" while burying one's head in the sand at the same time, since political crises are very much news- and public perception-driven, but of course you are entitled to do that if you want. I personally will probably skip your posts on the issue, though, because I enjoy more substance.
I sent you the url about the homeless in Seattle because there was a statement on this thread in a post to you, as I recall at least, that Seattle had no homeless policy, when in fact it has an innovative and comprehensive one which seems to be working nicely. I sort of like it when actual reality is at least briefly considered in long-winded, opinionated posts, but perhaps I am in the minority.
Battle-axes, crones, whatever!!! There is room for all sorts of women in the world, young and old, pretty, ugly, powerful and weak, and while I might resent a man calling a woman a battle-axe, I would be the first to call, say, a woman boss whose guts I could absolutely not stand an old battle-axe if I felt like it. Or a bitch, even!!! These are powerful words, and since I love words and like to use them effectively, it would be efficient to choose them on occasion. Because I myself am a hypocrite on this issue, I am not going to get all upset about anyone else using words like this.
Okay, I'll play, Holly. What are the other four or so things in the universe upon which we agree? I suspect we are polar opposites or something!!! |
