Most northern states are experiencing above freezing temps, week after week after week during the coldest month of the year. Birds that normally migrate to the south in November are still here at the end of January. Rivers that normally have a foot or more of ice are still open. If you live anywhere near MN you can see global warming all around us (for those who get weak at the knees when we use that phase, "climate change.").
