I think it would make things way too complicated. We don’t know who got infected when - and when those individuals became sick and underwent testing. The straightforward way is, basically, the way the Johns Hopkins site is doing it. It’s very possible that the picture will change drastically one way or the other. The numbers may explode - or, the growth in the number of new cases may slow down.
