Cultures in areas seems to last for almost forever no matter what the surface political situation seems to be. China has had a "Mandarin" society forever. Britain has had a "Northern Euro" POV ever since the first invasion from the North killed off and made slaves of the original people. What we call the "Anglosaxon" culture has ruled Britain since Rome left. It's culminated here during the revolution. We have tried to change cultures in other countries and have failed. Our efforts in Arab areas since 911 are a classic failure.

I see it as more proof of the triumph of ethnicity over indoctrination. When it hits the fan with us, individualism beats out collectivism. That's the reverse of most other cultures.
