Your question re. shares could be answered by doing a little math. (What is being traded in the US is an ADR of SAP which roughly equals 1/3 of the SAP preferred share in value.) Please look up SAP's homesite at sap.com

As to the comparison with DELL, I don't think the latter is even in the same league!

DELL is a box company (without its own proprietary technology) subject to cut-throat competition and economic cyclicality, whereas SAP is the leader of its own sector--the fast-growing enterprise software arena which, by all accounts, is the sweetest spot of all--and it's not a iseful exercise to compare a software company with a hardware vendor.

The SAP story is a long and complex one; best thing to do is to pay a visit to the SAP site.
