Trump secured Syria's oil because he wants the revenue for himself.

Trump had ordered our troops out of Syria, but our Generals convinced him to go back and secure the oil at the very least.

That didn't happen. "Taking the oil" has always been Trump's idea. He says he wants the US out of the ME but he wants to occupy the oil fields forever, which is what "taking the oil" means.
