50% Value Picks - since I've strayed so far from this thread's stated purpose, let's get back to business for a minute.

I can definitely, certainly, authoritatively say that we are in a choppy, sideways market which will continue to be affected by Asia, Iraq, oil prices and whatever Clinton did or did not do/say/deny, etc. The only real momentum I have seen lately has been short-lived story stock stuff and earnings bounces. So buyer beware.

That said, I'm very happy with ATLPA right now. Bought at 10 1/2 looking for a couple of quick points off the earnings surprise... still holding at 13. Here's one take on it:

techstocks.com

Since ATLPA is a value play and not just a flash in the pan, it has a chance to make 50% in the not too distant future if the small cap market holds and institutions keep buying. I'll let you know if/when it breaks the next resistance level around 14.

EQNX - been watching this one for a while. Just moved up over 19. Management has promised an earnings surprise in the announcement coming up in early Feb. which would put FY97 earnings over $1. If estimates for 1998 are revised upward over $1.30 there is a fair argument for EQNX to rise to the mid- or high 20's. I am interested in a techie viewpoint on their technology. Looks like a short-term buy under 20, but do your own DD as always.

TMBS also due to report earnings soon. Should have bought this one at 12 when I could.

What else is out there in the over $5 range which just reported good earnings or will soon and has a reasonable chance of making 50% this year? Let's get cranking on some good picks again - while we keep an eye on Asia, Iraq, Clinton and whatever else blows up in the near future.
