I have a couple of fixtures that are really difficult when it comes to changing the bulbs. You need small hands to get to the bulbs..............which I have........but it's still difficult. I'm also kind of a scrooge and am constantly trying to find ways to save money and reduce costs. So we thought OK.........we've installed a couple of LED bulbs in a couple of our fixtures, they last forever and we like them, so why not go all the way and install them in every fixture in the house?

I ordered a couple of different brands and types of LED appliance bulbs for the microwave oven on AZ today. We've always used incandescent bulbs, and they don't last long because the filament breaks from the opening and closing on the door.

LED bulbs don't have filaments, so we're hoping that takes care of that problem.

Another issue for us is that we lose our power a lot. (just lost it 20 minutes ago and had to switch over to the gen) That generator runs everything we need, but our power can go out for days, and we have to shut some things down when we run the hot water tank or the dishwasher.

Can someone explain the difference between the wattage an LED bulb draws compared to the wattage an incandescent bulb draws, and would that matter when it comes to shutting things down to run other things?
